For visitors that haven't yet had the
opportunity to visit Scotland, Edinburgh is the perfect gateway city showcasing
a mixture of art, culture and fascinating history. Whether you're into hiking
or Hogwarts you'll find that the city has plenty of attractions designed to
appeal to even the pickiest of tourists. Edinburgh is also famous for hosting
several world famous festivals throughout the year which range from the fun
Edinburgh Fringe Festival, to the Edinburgh International Book Festival and the
Edinburgh Military Tattoo. However, if festivals don't take your fancy you'll
find that there's plenty to do on a year round basis, as well as numerous cheap
hotels to choose from:
Climb to Arthur's Seat
For the best views of the city you'll need
to make quite a climb, but once you reach the top of Edinburgh's extinct
volcano you'll find that the views are well worth it. From the top of the peak,
you can enjoy breath-taking views of Edinburgh and the surrounding countryside.
While there, visit the Our Dynamic Earth museum for an in-depth look at the
geographical processes that shaped Scotland's varied landscape.
