Bourbon is a subset of whiskey. In order
for whiskey to be considered as bourbon, it needs to be made in the US. It is
also a must that bourbon be made from a minimum of 51% to 79% corn. Those who
want to know how to age whiskey should know that bourbon needs to be aged for a
minimum of two years. However, a lot of bourbon is aged for more than four
years.
Barrels used for aging could come from any
type of new oak barrel that is charred on the inside. Currently, numerous
distillers utilize American White Oak due to its porous-ness. Porous oaks help
bourbon to age well but not too porous that barrels could leak.
